How the holiday is celebrated
Gifts of flowers and books. One of the main traditions is the exchange of flowers and books. On the streets of Barcelona, especially in the La Rambla area, special kiosks are set up where roses and books are sold. This creates a festive atmosphere, and everyone can buy a flower or a book for a loved one.
Street fairs. On this day, Barcelona hosts fairs where not only books and flowers are sold, but also various cultural goods, souvenirs, and gastronomic delicacies.
Cultural events. Barcelona and other cities in Catalonia host cultural events such as literary readings, author presentations, exhibitions, and concerts. Many Catalan writers, poets and artists organize meetings with fans.
Decorations and celebrations on the streets. Numerous flower arrangements and decorations can be seen on the streets of the city. Barcelona is literally drowning in flowers on this day - roses, tulips and other flowers decorate squares, streets and shops.
